As regular CFZ-watchers will know, for some time Corinna has been doing a column for Animals & Men and a regular segment on On The Track... particularly about out-of-place birds and rare vagrants. There seem to be more and more bird stories from all over the world hitting the news these days so, to make room for them all - and to give them all equal and worthy coverage - she has set up this new blog to cover all things feathery and Fortean.

Aldinga township likened to a scene from Hitchcock’s The Birds

THOUSANDS of corellas have taken over the historic Old Aldinga township in what has been described as a scene reminiscent of Alfred Hitchcock movie The Birds.
Aldinga Bay Seafood owner Derek Matheson said the bird population was the largest he had seen in his more than 30 years living and working in the town.

“It is a health hazard, these birds carry disease and literally the feathers and and faeces are everywhere and their droppings are like small pancakes,” Mr Matheson said.

“I have got a little alfresco area I have to hose down every morning, the township looks like the bottom of cocky cage.

“In the township at night it is quite eerie.

“A lot of people say it is like a scene out of Alfred Hitchcock’s film The Birds.”
