As regular CFZ-watchers will know, for some time Corinna has been doing a column for Animals & Men and a regular segment on On The Track... particularly about out-of-place birds and rare vagrants. There seem to be more and more bird stories from all over the world hitting the news these days so, to make room for them all - and to give them all equal and worthy coverage - she has set up this new blog to cover all things feathery and Fortean.

It turns out it’s not just us humans who get depressed during the bad weather.
The penguins at the Sea Life Centre in Scarborough also aren’t too fond of the conditions and are being given anti-depressants to get them through.

‘After the first week out, the birds were just a bit subdued but after over a month now they are thoroughly fed-up and miserable, much like the rest of us,’ the sanctuary’s curator Lyndsey Crawford said.

Humboldt penguins are no strangers to extreme conditions as they normally live in Peru and Chile.
