There seem to be more and more bird stories from all over the world hitting the news these days so, to make room for them all - and to give them all equal and worthy coverage - she has set up this new blog to cover all things feathery and Fortean.

Give scheme for £450m marine energy park the bird says RSPB


THE Government is being urged to turn down plans for a huge port development over concerns they could prove disastrous for thousands of birds.

The RSPB has asked Transport Minister Robert Goodwill to reject an application for a development consent order for Able UK’s £450m marine energy park on the south bank of the estuary at Killingholme.

In August, the Government said it was “minded to approve” the plans, but wanted more information on measures to mitigate the loss of mudflats essential to the survival of thousands of black-tailed godwits (BTGs).

The following month David Cameron publicly backed the plans, describing them as a “very important investment” for Britain.
